Our beautiful cliff path walk

Take a walk on the cliff path. Each cottage has a map marked with the cliff path trails.  Start your walk with a coffee or drink at 'Ficks restaurant'  , it has an amazing setting on the rocks by the ocean !
Continue your walk to central of town, Pear Tree Restaurant, is a great option for lunch/ dinner. They also cater for vegetarians and vegans. The Burgundy Restaurant is lovely for Breakfast.
If you have more time and not ready to slow down yet, continue your walk to Grotto beach. Grotto beach also has a restaurant called Dutchies- that’s great for lunch.

If you don’t feel like walking back after lunch or a few drinks Call one of our local Taxi to bring you back , Tuk-Taxi – 0846 885 885 or Cabbies – 060 623 5221.The restaurant can also call a taxi for you if you do not have a SA phone.

(Don’t walk the cliff path at night as there are no lights)

After your walk take a drive up Rotary Way to view Hermanus from the top of the mountain.

Wine tasting- Hemel & aarde Vally

Wine Tasting & Exploring our wine valley
Jump onto the wine hoppers bus. They can collect you at the cottage or you can go to their office in central of town by the markets. Marked on the map in cottage.
OR
Drive yourself into the wine valley, ‘Hemel & Aarde Wine Valley’, there are loads of amazing wine farms but ‘Creations’ and ‘Spookfontein’ are the best for lunch. For smaller kids ‘Plaaskombuis’ is a great option.

Mountain hiking

Fernkloof nature reserve is a great spot for mountain hiking. Make your way to the reserve by using the map in the cottage. There are a few different hike routes but the best one is to the top of the mountain to swim in the dam (“Damme”’). The hiking routs are clearly marked.
Or for the non-hikers there are green grassy lawns for a family picnic as you enter the reserve.

Summer Beach Days

Grotto beach is our blue flag beach. There are lifeguards and a restaurant, ‘Dutchies’. Voelklip Beach and Kammabaai next to grotto are also lovely beaches.

Hermanus Country Market

Visit the local country market every Saturday from 9am - 1pm by the Hermanus Cricket Club.

Amazing local foods, wines, arts & craft and much more !

Whale Watching

We are happy to book you a whale watching tour on your holiday ! Boats departure from new harbor (weather depending). Bookings are essential . Whale season August - Beginning December.

Scenic drive to Cape Town & Stoney Point Penguins- Betty’s Bay

Take the scenic route to Cape Town (R44) and stop at the penguins at betty’s bay. The route adds about 30min travel time to Cape Town but it’s worth it.

A day trip and things to do in Hermanus recommended by us.
